WELCOME TO
Defining Beauty
Breast cancer is extremely confronting for any woman to face. While the doctors are doing their best to beat the cancer, we’re left to deal with the side effects that strip us bare. Every woman deserves to look and feel their best at this time, or at the very least have a little help to fake it til they make it! We believe that beauty comes from within, but it doesn’t hurt to have a little help. Defining Beauty provides a safe, friendly and informative place during this time and beyond, helping you to take back some control over how you’re feeling – inside and out.
Our Programs
While battling breast cancer and experiencing all the changes that come with treatment, women may not feel like themselves, but they definitely want to look like themselves. Breast cancer attacks everything we’re told defines us as women: our breasts, our hair and our fertility and our self-esteem. Regardless of the changes you experience, it’s important to know that there’s advice and support out there to help you cope.
We provide small workshops for women who have had breast cancer or are undergoing active treatments. Our programs bring women together in a safe and friendly environment with the aim to uplift, inform and empower them emotionally through this challenging time. The primary focus of the program is to provide helpful skincare, make-up, scarring and body image advice. We also aim to provide practical guidance around emotional and mental wellbeing, during and after breast cancer.
Our programs are also an opportunity to meet others in a similar situation, form friendships and find additional support networks. We’re incredibly lucky to have many wonderful companies and sponsors on board to provide some of the best products in skincare, hair and makeup. We use all-natural products and provide on-trend, best-practice beauty treatments. We’re also very thankful to have Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) supporting this initiative, which is led by two-time cancer survivor Jo Francis, and a team of passionate, strong and intelligent women.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to help young women face their cancer journey with confidence and take back some control at one of the most vulnerable times of their lives. Our symbol, the Dahlia flower, represents all that we hope to achieve through our wonderful program, such as finding inner strength, changing in a positive way, remaining graceful and kind. We’re a community of breast cancer warriors. No one fights alone – we’re here for you!
